*Radon Detectors II ... Two detectors, one for the basement and one for the first floor, are recommended. However, if only one detector is used, the basement reading is the one to get. The DOH detectors are priced at $6.25, which includes analysis of the detector reading and all postage. Note that it can take several weeks to receive the detectors after you send in your order. When received, the detector must be exposed for 2 to 7 days and then sent to a laboratory that is under contract to the DOH, for analysis. The lab will send you the results.
If you obtain a radon reading in your home, please let Marv Schorr (399-4161), Chairman of the Charlton Environmental Conservation Commission, know the results. If the measurements are above the EPA guideline level of 4 Pico-Curies per liter, he can get you additional information regarding radon mitigation.

Re: Acrobat Reader:
If you experience printing problems from the Adobe reader installed as a "plug in" to Netscape, right click on the link to the file you want to print and click on "save link as" which will download the file to your hard drive. Then open that file in Adobe Acrobat. With windows you can do that by double clicking on the name of the file you downloaded while in either Explorer (Windows 95) or File Manager in Windows 3.xx
