Minutes of Technology
Advisory Board Meeting of July 17, 2007
Present: J Tasse, Chairman, G. Eggleston, J. Egry, J. Kelley, M. Schorr, B.
Gardner-Town Board liaison; Absent: P. St. John
1. The minutes of the 6-19-07 meeting were approved
without change (note that after the meeting an error was found and corrected in
the attendance list-J. Kelley listed as both present and absent – he was
absent). The changed minutes must be approved again.
2.
The electrical
drawings for the new Town Hall show no server wiring and do not show where the
network equipment will be installed. Eggleston was to meet with the
telecommunications contractor on what we think is needed and Gardner was to
check with the architect. Gardner talked to the architect about the missing
information and the architect said that “he will get right on it”. Based on
that discussion Gardner told Eggleston not to bother meeting with the
contractor. Gardner and Egry looked at the spec which says that the electrical
contractor is responsible for all data and communications wiring. The wiring will be run to the termination
points in the basement then connected to the equipment.
3.
J. Tasse said
that he has made no progress on the slide presentation to the Town Board, but
he can have it ready for the July 30 agenda meeting of the Board as previously
discussed.
4.
Re-Town Clerk’s
desktop computer that was not working. Egry researched the cost of a new
computer to meet Heather’s requirements and tried contacting manufacturers
without success. As a result, Heather ordered and has received the computer
from Hp (price about $1100). Joe will help to set up the new computer. Craig
Jones will be contacted to set a time for installing the software. Joe and Al
Smith will monitor the software installation.
5.
B. Gardner
obtained copies from the county of 5 position guides as examples of the system
administrator’s job. Copies were given to the TAB members for review. Gardner
said that job must be under civil service if the person is to be an employee of
the town unless a consultant is hired to perform the work.
6.
Town Justice
printer(s) – Judge Bascom has requested approval to purchase a new printer. The
question arises whether two printers are need (one each for the two justices).
Judge Ketchum said that he may need one later, but does not need one now. Judge
Bascom must fill out a TAB justification form, but a decision will not be
needed until the move into the new Town Hall is made.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:41
pm. The next meeting will be on August 21, 2007 at 7 pm in the Town Hall.
