Duties & Responsibilities
Town Clerk
Keeps minutes of all Town Board meetings.
Records Management
Acts as custodian of all permanent records of the Town and must provide for the storage and disposition of inactive records for all departments. Maintains records of adopted Town ordinances and local laws, oaths of office, resignations, petitions, proofs of publication, annual budgets, contracts, and fiscal reports.
Licenses / Permits
Issues NYS licenses/permits, including marriage, dog, hunting and fishing, and handicapped parking. Issues applications for Town Parks and Community Center use and permits upon approval; keeps schedule of reservations.
Registrar of Vital Statistics
Keeps a permanent record of all births and deaths occurring in Charlton, issues birth certificates, marriage certificates &/or transcripts, death transcripts, and burial permits.
