Mission
The Zoning Ordinance Review Committee (ZORC) is appointed annually by the Town Board to update the Town’s Zoning Ordinance(s). The purpose of ZORC is to review the Zoning Ordinance to align it with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and the Farmland Protection Plan, and suggest revisions, if necessary. The ZORC may also, at the request of the Town Board, review and make recommendations regarding proposed new Town laws that could impact the Zoning Ordinances. The members generally represent those Town Officers, Boards and Committees most involved with the Zoning Ordinance as well as some members of the former Comprehensive Plan Committee (CPC).
Process
Review and revise the Zoning Ordinance as necessary using input from the Town’s Boards and Committees, the Comprehensive Plan and the Farmland Protection Plan. Present a draft of the recommended revisions to the Town Attorney, modify as necessary and present the modified draft to the Town Board. If approved, the Town Board will hold a public hearing on the revised draft. The Town Board votes to accept or reject all or parts of the revised Zoning Ordinance. If the revisions are accepted, the final revised Zoning Ordinance will be issued.
