Mission
The purpose of the Board of Assessment Review (BAR) is to give taxpayers the opportunity to grieve their assessments on Grievance Day (4th Tuesday in May). It is the taxpayer's responsibility to provide sufficient evidence that their assessment is unequal or excessive compared with similar properties. It is strongly recommended that a taxpayer meet with one of the Town of Charlton Assessors prior to Grievance Day to learn how their assessment was determined and to verify accuracy of the property data. As a result of this meeting, an equitable adjustment may be reached.
