Jesse Conde 1743-1818 buried in Conde Cemetery Charlton, New York "Jesse Conde, one of the first to settle here, in 1774, purchased Small Lot 5 - 5,000 acre tract of the patent. On the west side of Stage Road he built a log-cabin for his family. About 1800, Jesse Conde set aside 10 building lots, on the south side of Main Street, to create a hamlet. He also sold the land on the east side of Stage Road for small farms, and houselots.....After the death of Jesse Jr. on Aug. 23, 1778, the family set aside a plot of ground at the west line of the homestead as a family cemetery." -- from Beyond the Horizon
