William Robertson Bunyan 1824-1905 grandson of our featured Robert Bunyan

Robert Bunyan 1737-1799 "In the year 1794 two Scotch families came from their homes among the Scottish hills, and settled about a quarter of a mile east of West Charlton, on adjoining farms. There was a singular coincidence in the names of the heads of these families. They were respectively Robert and Alison Bunyan and Robert and Alison Hume. Both families bore the names of distinguished men, but did not claim any kinship with them. To unite the two families still more strongly, William, the eldest son of the Bunyan family, married Isabel Hume. They lived on the Bunyan homestead till their deaths. Robert Bunyan was a prominent member of the Freehold church, and going to church one Sabbath when the going was bad, he caught cold sitting in the unwarmed church, and died of inflammation of the lungs in 1799. William Bunyan died in 1837. Robert Hume lived to the great age of one hundred and one years, and died in 1839. John and William Bunyan and Mrs. Margaret Alexander are grandchildren of Robert Bunyan and Robert Hume, still living in Charlton. John Bunyan lives on the homestead. First Generation 1. Robert BUNYAN was born on 24 Dec 1737. He was christened on 24 Dec 1737 in SCOTLAND. He died in 1799. Robert married Allison Elizabeth HOY on 10 Jan 1767. Allison was born in SCOTLAND. She died in 1812. They had the following children:   2 F i Nelly BUNYAN was born on 28 Aug 1768 in SCOTLAND.         Nelly married William JOHNSON on 2 Jun 1790 in Edinburgh, SCOTLAND.   3 M ii William BUNYAN was born on 26 Sep 1773 in Melrose, SCOTLAND. He died on 7 Feb 1838 in West Charlton, Saratoga Co. NY. He was buried in West Charlton Cemetery, Saratoga Co.,NY.         William married (1) Isabelle HUME daughter of Robert HUME and Alison WILSON. Isabelle was born in 1773 in SCOTLAND. She died on 25 Jan 1821. She was buried in West Charlton Cemetery,Saratoga Co. NY.         William married (2) Elizabeth ROBERTSON daughter of James ROBERTSON and Margaret on 9 Mar 1823. Elizabeth was born in 1785 in SCOTLAND. She died on 10 Aug 1875. She was buried in West Charlton Cemetery,Saratoga Co. NY.   4 M iii John BUNYAN was born on 25 Jul 1776 in SCOTLAND. He died in 1788 in Melrose, SCOTLAND.   5 M iv Robert BUNYAN was born on 22 Aug 1779. He died in 1799.   6 M v Alexander BUNYAN was born on 26 Jan 1783.   7 M vi James BUNYAN was born on 13 Mar 1784 in SCOTLAND. He died on 18 Jan 1873. He was buried in Yellow Springs,,OH.         James married Beatrice Elizabeth HUME in 1808. Beatrice was born in 1781 in SCOTLAND. She died in 1841. She was buried in Yellow Springs,,OH.   8 F vii Barbara BUNYAN was born on 28 Jul 1789. She was christened on 22 Jul 1790.
