Thomas Brown 1733-1820 buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery Charlton, New York "Next west of Taylor's farm Thomas Brown owned a tract of four hundred and forty acres. He settled there some few years later, probably about the close of the Revolution. This farm was divided among his children". --from Sylvestors "Thomas served as private, advanced to Lieutenant, and to Captain June 22, 1778, under Colonels Jacobus Van Schoonhove, John Knickerbocker, and Peter Yates, in Albany Co. Militia." --from BHC "Brown, Thomas I, 1733-1821, Veteran of the Revolution. In 1777 he purchased a 200 acre tract of land on the north side of Charlton Road, and the west side of Peaceable Street. In 1786, he purchased another tract of 106 acres, on the east side of Maple Avenue, north of Main Street. Then again in 1791, he purchased another 200 acre tract of land north of his first purchase. At the first Annual Town Meeting, Thomas Brown was elected to the office of Assessor. Before the first Freehold Church was built, in 1786, the Brown family attended the Rev. She died on 31 Oct 1807. She was buried in Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, NY.         Joseph married (2) Catherine TAYLOR daughter of James TAYLOR and Lydia VANKIRK on 2 Mar 1809. Catherine was born in 1770. She died in 1864. She was buried in Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, NY.   4 M iii John BROWN was born on 16 Feb 1765. He was christened on 28 Jul 1765 in OTC,Freehold,NJ. He died on 26 Oct 1852. He was buried in Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, NY.         John married Sarah C. TAYLOR daughter of James TAYLOR and Lydia VANKIRK on 6 Dec 1792. Sarah was born on 4 Feb 1776 in ,,NJ. She died on 26 May 1855. She was buried in Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, NY.   5 M iv David BROWN was born on 5 Mar 1767. He was christened in OTC,,NJ. He was buried in Scotch Church,West Charlton,NY.   8 F vii Mary BROWN was christened on 13 Mar 1774 in OTC,Freehold,NJ.   9 F viii Anna BROWN was born on 3 May 1776.   10 F ix Lydia Mitchell BROWN was born on 19 Feb 1782. She died in 1865.         Lydia married Charles MITCHELL on 4 Feb 1800 in Presby Ch,Schenectady,NY. Charles was born in 1779. He died in 1859.
