This online presentation is being developed from the genealogy database started in 1992. The base structure of that database was put together using the compilations of the late Barbara Holbrook. In addition, many families, most of whom trace back to several of the early settlers, furnished us with their personal genealogies. Birth, marriage and death records compiled by Henry C. Ritchie, and Frank Lafforthun were major sources, along with Durkee’s Cemetery Records. Compilations of all Charlton cemeteries by Donald A. Keefer also were used. Various writings relating to the history of Charlton were indexed and material gained from those sources was added to the records of many of the individuals. Source of information was added to each individual record to aid in the confirmation of data and as guides to further research. This collection of data is to be considered just that - a collection of information on the early Charlton families. If you are researching your family line, then use this only as a jumping off spot, please keep in mind the difference between primary and secondary sources and the importance of building a preponderance of evidence. Accept nothing without further checking. For this online presentation, only the first couple of generations will be listed. Please do not write for further information as no one is currently available to do lookups.
